Answers:

1. (d): 6 women 1 day work = 1/3, 1 woman 1 day work = 1/3 * 1/6 = 1/18, 3 women 1 day work = 1/18 * 3 = 1/6
18 children 1 day work = 1/2 - 1/6 = 1/3, 9 children 1 day work = 1/3 * 1/18 * 9 = 1/6
Hence, 9 children alone can complete the work in 6 days.

2. (b): Given, perimeter of square = 72cm, Perimeter fo the rectangle = 72/2 = 36cm
Perimeter of the rectangle = 2(L + B)
=> 36 = 2(12 + breadth) => 2*breadth = 12cm => breadth = 6cm.
Now side of square = 72/4 = 18cm
Hence, required difference = 18 - 6 = 12cm.

3. (b): Suppose, present age of Purvi = X yr and present age of Anil = 1.5X yr
Then, (1.5X + 8)/(X + 8) = 25/18 => X = 28yr.
