  2. 13 kmph
  3. 14 kmph
  4. 15 kmph

Answers

1.(4)
Relative speed = (60 + 40) km/hr  = (100 x 5/18) m/sec = (250/9) m/sec
Distance covered in crossing each other = (140 + 160) = 300 m
Required time = (300 x 9/250) sec = 54/5 sec = 10.8 sec.

2.(4)
( P + Q + R)'s one hour work = (1/8+1/10+1/12) = 27/120
Work done by P, Q and R in 2 hours = (37/120 x 2) = 37/60
Remaining work = ( 1- 37/60) = 23/60
(Q + R)'s one hour work = (1/10 +1/12) = 11/60
Now, 11/60 work is done by Q and R in 1 hour.
So, 23/60 work will be done by Q and R in (60/11 x 23/60) = 23/11 hours = 2 hours
So, the work will be finished approximately 2 hours after 11 a.m, i.e around 1 p.m

3.(4)
Let the number of students appeared from school A = 100
Then, number of students qualified from school A = 70
Number of students appeared from school B = 120
Number of students from school B = (150/100 x 70) = 105
Required percentage = (105/120 x 100) = 87.5%

4.(2)
Sum of the remaining two numbers = (3.95 x 6) - {(3.4 x 2) + (3.85 x 2)} = 23.70 - (6.8 + 7.7) = 23.70 - 14.50 = 9.20
Required average = (9.2/2) = 4.6

5.(2)
Let the numbers be x and y. x/5 = 5y/8
y = 8x/25
Now, x+35 = 4y
x+35 = 32x/35
7x/25 = 35
Hence x = 125
y = 8x/25 = 8/25 x 125 = 40

6.(4)
Cannot be determined

7.(2)
Let C.P = Rs 100. Then, Marked Price Rs 110, SP = Rs 99
Discount %= (11/110 x 100)% = 10%

8.(4)
Data inadequate

9.(3)
10 men's 1 day work = 1/15
15 women's 1 day work = 1/12
(10 men + 15 women)'s 1 day work = (1/15 + 1/12) = 9/60 = 3/20
10 men and 15 women will complete the work in 3/20 = 6 2/3 days

10.(4)
Let the speed of boat in still water be x kmph. Then,
Speed downstream = ( x + 3) kmph, speed upstream = ( x - 3) kmph.
(x + 3) x 1 = (x - 3) x 3/2
2x + 6 = 3x - 9
x = 15 kmph
