Answers
1.(c)
Let the speed of the car be x kmph
Then, speed of the train = 150x/100 = 3x/2 kmph
75/x - 75/(3x/2) = 125/(10 x 60)
75/x - 50/x = 5/24
x = 120 kmph

2.(d)
At the time of meeting, let the distance traveled by the second train be x km
Then, the distance covered by the first train is ( x+100)Km
x/40 = (x+100)/50
x =400
So, the distance between P and Q is x + x+100 = 900km

3.(b)
1 man's 1 day work = 1/192
1 child's 1 day work = 1/432
Work done in 8 days = 8(12/192 + 8/432) = 8(1/16+1/54) = 35/54
Remaining work= ( 1- 35/53) = 19/54
(12 men + 11 children)'s 1 day work = 12/192 + 11/432 = 19/216
Now, 19/216 work is done in 1 day.
19/54 work will be done by them in (216/19 x 19/54) = 4 days

4.(a)
(A + B+ C)'s 1 day work = 1/24 +1/36 + 1/48 = 13/144
Work done by (A + B + C) in 4 days = 13/144 x 4 = 13/36
Work done by B in 3 days = (1/36 x 3) = 1/12
Remaining work = (1 - (13/36 + 1/12)) = 5/9
(A + B)'s 1 day work = (1/24 + 1/36) = 5/72
Now 5/72 work is done by A and B in 72/5 x 5/9 = 8 days
Hence, total time taken = (4 + 3 + 8) = 15 days

5.(c)
Let the number of persons eligible to vote be x. Then,
Number of eligible persons between 18 and 21 = 8% of x
Number of persons between 18 and 21, who voted = 85% of (8% of x) = 68x/1000
Required percentage = 68x/1000 x 1/x x 100 = 6.8%

6.(c)
Difference between the given numbers in the series is 2^2, 3^2, 4^2 and so on.
Hence 177 + 25 = 202

7.(b)
4 x 0.5 = 2
2 x 1 = 2
2 x 1.5 = 3
3 x 2 = 6
6 x 1.5 =15

8.(d)
Difference between the numbers in the given series are multiples of 16.
16, 32, 48, and so on
Hence the next number will be 307 + 80 = 387

9.(d)
5 x 3 - 1 =14
14 x 3 - 2 =40
40 x 3 - 3 =117
117 x 3 - 4 =347
347 x 3 - 5 =1036

10.(d)
12 x 2 =24
24 x 4 =96
96 x 6 =576
576 x 8 = 4608
